BOTOX
Botox has lately become a so common procedure to the extent that some people chose randomly the right address looking for the nearest place or the cheapest one.
The most important thing is to first recognize that Botox injection is a medical procedure, so it must be done by a medical professional. It can be dangerous if it is administered incorrectly.
According to Dr. TAREK HUSAMI, It is the patient’s right to know which substance he is being injected with and to openly discuss the risks and benefits of the treatment.
“Seulement Pour VIP” exclusively interviewed Dr. TAREK HUSAMI, MD, Cosmetic, Plastic and hand surgeon. Graduated from New York University as a fellow of plastic surgery in 1990, he practiced in OHIO USA for 2 years before coming back to Lebanon AUH. Now in private practice.
What is Botox?
Botox is a brand name of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.
In large doses, the protein causes botulism, a rare paralytic illness often linked to food poisoning.
What does it treat?
However, the protein is used in cosmetic medicine to treat moderate to severe brow crease, uncontrolled blinking, lazy eye, wrinkles, and facial wrinkles as well as migraine symptoms, muscle spasms and excessive sweating.
How does Botox work?
Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. Small, diluted amounts can be directly injected into specific muscles causing controlled weakening of the muscles. The result is muscles that can no longer contract, and so the wrinkles relax and soften.
Timeline for Botox Results
Most patients will notice a change in 3-4 days, with full results showing around day 7. The effect will gradually wear off over the next 4 months.
Possible side effects
Minor and normal side effects may come with most injections and subside in a few hours to a few days. When injected around the eyes and the mouth: Pain at the injection site, Headaches, Bruising, Swelling and Bleeding.
How Is a Botox Procedure Performed?
Getting Botox takes only a few minutes and no anesthesia is required. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort.
